The Keewatin [circa 1960]

” … passing the Sleeping Giant on its journey east from the Lakehead, Ontario, Canada.”

This is a Canadian Pacific Railway coal-burning steamship which offered an alternative to travelling around the north side of Lakes Huron and Superior by passenger train. This service was about as old as the company … before the Lake Superior section of Canadian Pacific Railway was completed, essential corporate and public transportation was provided by CPR steamships … before the winter freeze-up.

The eastbound journey is beginning here as the ship leaves today’s Thunder Bay harbour.

Keewatin ship leaving Thunder Bay? I feel like this might be some beautiful metaphor for my life but I am sleep deprived...
